Firefighters battle Canterbury house blaze

More than 30 firefighters responded to a house fire in Canterbury following a call to Triple Zero (000) just before 10:20 am.

FRV crews arrived to the Victoria Avenue scene within six minutes to find a single story house fully involved in flames with the roof collapsing.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the blaze and bringing the incident under control by 11:37 am.

Firefighters prevented the spread of the fire to the adjoining properties and are remaining on scene to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.  

Thankfully there were no occupants at the scene at the time of the incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will be investigated once the fire

is extinguished.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also attending the scene.
