Firefighters battle Caroline Springs house fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident in The Grange, Caroline Springs at 7.41pm yesterday after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find a 20 x 20 metre, two-storey brick home fully involved in fire with flames through the roof.

The response was escalated with FRV crews, assisted by CFA, working quickly to attack the fire.

Five occupants had evacuated the house with one sustaining burns to the face and hands.

FRV Firefighters provided first aid until the arrival of Ambulance Victoria who then transported the patient to hospital.

The fire caused extensive damage to the house and contents.

The roof of the property also collapsed.

Neighbouring properties were checked for fire extension.

This incident was deemed Under Control at 8.25pm.

FRV specialist Fire Investigators will be attending in the morning to determine the cause of the fire.

Victoria Police was on scene for traffic management.

Eleven appliances and one CFA truck, along with approximately 30 firefighters, attended the incident.

Power and gas companies also attended.

Firefighters remained on scene overnight to ensure the scene was safe.
