Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Keilor Rd in Niddrie at 12:26pm following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting smoke issuing from a two-storey business.
Crews arrived on scene in five minutes and established firefighting lines protecting nearby structures.
Firefighters used heavy cutting equipment to gain access to the building.
Heavy smoke was exiting the workshop on arrival heading into the northerly and westerly directions.
A community warning was issued given heavy smoke in the area.
Multiple buildings were involved with a total size of 40m x 20m, with the fire contained to the rear of one building.
Two people were safely evacuated from the property.
The incident was deemed under control at 2:13pm.
Firefighters remain on scene to monitor and ensure hot spots are extinguished.
