Approximately 60 firefighters responded to a factory fire in Mordialloc on Thursday morning.

FRV and CFA crews were called to Lower Dandenong Road at 11:37am, after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the incident.

Firefighters arrived on scene in seven minutes and quickly upgraded the response, after finding the factory fully alight and the fire threatening to spread to an adjoining factory.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters began an aggressive attack on the blaze, supported by aerial appliances.

They brought the fire under control at 1:49pm, approximately two hours after first arriving on scene.

It’s believed the factory contained painting machinery and equipment.

A community advice warning has been issued for smoke in the area which is also drifting across the Moorabbin Airport perimeter.

Victoria Police are assisting with traffic control, and people have been asked to avoid to area.

FRV is working with EPA to manage water runoff and Worksafe has been notified of the incident.

No cause has been determined at this time and specialist investigators will attend when it is safe to investigate further.
