Firefighters battle Greensborough house fire

At 11.16pm, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a house fire on Wombat Court, Greensborough.

A family of four and their pets evacuated the burning home late last night.

The fire started in the bedroom and quickly spread throughout the roof space of the single storey, brick veneer home, causing severe damage.

One male occupant returned to attempt extinguishment and sustained burns to both hands as a result. He has been transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria.

Firefighters worked together to attack the blaze, bringing the incident under control at 11.43pm.

Alternative accommodation has been sourced for the family.

The local council Building Surveyor will be attending in the morning to inspect the structure.

FRV Firefighters have deemed the cause of the fire as ‘accidental.’

FRV Firefighters will be in attendance throughout the morning to continue fire duties, including extinguishment of hot spots.
