At 5.00AM, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was called to an incident following several calls to Triple Zero (000) for flames and smoke issuing from the front window and roof of a Gymnasium in Holmes Street Coburg.
FRV crews were on scene within 5 minutes and immediately escalated the event to a 2nd Alarm.
Five (5) FRV Pumpers responded, as well as support vehicles. The event was Under Control within 30 minutes.
No persons were reported to be inside the structure at the time of this report.
Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police responded to assist FRV crews.
FRV remains on scene checking for fire extension and conducting the overhaul.
A Community Alert has been issued for smoke in the area.
