Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a house fire at 1.37pm on Argyll Circuit, Melton West after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported flames issuing from a single storey brick home.
Additional firefighting appliances were despatched in response to this information.
FRV and CFA trucks arrived on scene within seven minutes to find the house fully involved in fire, with two occupants and three pet dogs having evacuated from the home.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in 20 minutes, however, FRV Firefighters will be on scene throughout the afternoon continuing to extinguish hot spots and required fire duties.
One male occupant suffered burns, and one female was under medical observation. Both were transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria.
The home has been severely damaged with structural collapse.
The local Building Surveyor has been informed, and the occupants will have to source alternative accommodation.
A Community Advice was issued for smoke in the area.
The cause of the fire is still being determined.
