Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to an incident in Coonans Road, Pascoe Vale South at 3.17am this morning following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting a car and shop on fire.
Crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find thick smoke and flames issuing from the front of two shops with two vehicles involved.
Initiating an escalated response, crews wearing beathing apparatus worked to contain and extinguish the fire and prevented further spread to adjoining shops.
The fire was deemed under control by 3.49am.
A total of 10 appliances and 30 firefighters attended.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it will be investigated by FRV specialists in conjunction with the Victoria Police Arson squad.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene to support firefighting activities.
Firefighters will remain on scene for some time, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
