At 8.16pm, Fire Recue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Station Road, Melton, after multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.
CFA crews also responded to this incident.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single-storey brick veneer home fully ablaze.
Due to the intensity of the fire, crews were initially unable to search the home until the flames were knocked down.
It was reported that squatters inhabited the building. Thankfully, firefighters were able to confirm no persons were inside the house once the fire was under control.
The incident was deemed under control at 8.41pm, 17 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.
Unfortunately, the home has been destroyed in the fire.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be fully determined, it has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
Victoria Police were also in attendance.
