Firefighters battle St Kilda house fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters responded to an incident at 8.41am on Inkerman Street, St Kilda after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported smoke coming from a building roof.

Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find a single storey weatherboard house, approximately 10m by 15m, well alight and threatening adjoining properties.

Crews worked to extinguish the blaze with no damage to nearby properties.

No one was inside at the time.

Three people were evacuated from neighbouring premises and handed to Ambulance Victoria.

The scene was deemed Under Control at 9.05am.

Victoria Police were also in attendance.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and the scene has been handed to Victoria Police for further investigation.
