Firefighters bring Brunswick East restaurant fire under control

Approximately 28 firefighters responded to a restaurant fire in Brunswick East on Tuesday afternoon.

FRV crews were called to the Lygon Street incident about 2:30pm after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the blaze.

Firefighters arrived on scene in three minutes to find a fire in a second floor kitchen.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the fire and contained it to the kitchen.

Fortunately all occupants had evacuated safely.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

Crews remained on scene to monitor for hotspots and ensure the scene was safe.
