FRV crews arrived at the scene within six minutes to find a garage fully involved in a fire, which was quickly spreading to a two story house.

Firefighters set up hose lines to attack the blaze internally and worked to contain the fire to the main property.

Fortunately, the quick actions of firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to neighbouring houses.

The fire was declared under control just before 3:30pm and the cause is believed to be electrical.

FRV crews are expected to remain on scene for some time to ensure all hot spots have been extinguished.

At the height of the incident there were seven firefighting appliances working to contain the blaze, supported by a three additional units and a CFA crew.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police also assisted at the scene.

A community advice message was issued for smoke in the area.
