Firefighters contain Box Hill restaurant fire

At 2.12PM, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was called to an incident on Bank Street, Box Hill, following multiple calls to Triple Zero reporting black smoke in the area (000). 

Firefighters arrived within three minutes and found a fire at a restaurant. 

The spread of fire into neighbouring buildings was averted due to the crews’ quick and efficient firefighting. 

The incident was declared under control at 2.50PM. 

One person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation, while another suffered from a burnt hand.

A community advice alert was issued for smoke in the area.
