Firefighters contain Fawkner house fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to Marlborough Street, Fawkner shortly after 9.20pm on Saturday 23 August after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and flames issuing from the roof of a 10m x 15m single storey brick house and quickly escalated their response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews conducted a primary search of the premises, confirming no one was inside at the time and worked to quickly extinguish the blaze.

The fire was declared Under Control at 9.49pm.

Firefighters remained on scene for some time to ventilate the premises and monitor for hot spots.

The incident has been deemed suspicious, and the scene was handed over to Victoria Police for investigation.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics were also on scene assisting with operations.
