Firefighters contain Glenroy house fire

27 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Glenroy on Thursday evening.

FRV crews were called to the Farview Street incident at 6.13pm after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported flames coming from the residential property.

Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a double storey weatherboard house well alight.

Thankfully the occupant of the home had safely evacuated and was placed in the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading throughout the entire property. The fire was contained to a front bedroom and hallway.

The fire was brought under control at 6.53pm, just over 30 minutes after the first crews arrived on scene.

Firefighters will remain on scene overnight to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.

At the height of the incident, there were 9 FRV appliances on scene, including five Pumpers and one Rescue Unit.

FRV was supported on scene by Victoria Police.
