Firefighters contain Hughesdale house fire

30 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Hughesdale on Saturday morning.

FRV crews were called to the Calembeena Avenue incident at 9:08am after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a flames and smoke issuing from a residential property.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a single storey weatherboard house well alight. Thankfully, one person had self-evacuated from the house.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters quickly conducted an internal search of the building to ensure there was no one else inside and then worked to contain the fire, bringing it under control in 20 minutes.

One person was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics on scene and transported to hospital.

Firefighters will remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.

FRV investigators will work with Victoria Police to determine the cause of the fire.

Power and gas companies were also on scene to assist with isolating services.

At the height of the incident, there were 10 FRV appliances on scene, including five Pumpers and one Rescue Unit.
