Firefighters contain Melton West house fire

30 firefighters responded to a house fire in Melton West on Monday afternoon, after the occupant of the home phoned Triple Zero (000) and reported flames and smoke issuing from the residence.

While en-route to the scene, crews identified significant smoke billowing from the address and quickly escalated the response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the blaze and worked to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties.

Crews deemed the incident under control 42 minutes after they first arrived on scene.

The home sustained extensive damage and the cause of the fire will be investigated.

One patient was transferred to hospital in the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
