26 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Preston on Wednesday evening.

FRV crews were called to the Roseberry Avenue incident at 5:08pm after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a kitchen fire at a residential property.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a fire at the rear of a single storey property that was well alight.

Thankfully the occupant of the home had safely evacuated and assisted FRV and Victoria Police with their enquiries.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the building and began to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to the roof structure.

The fire was brought under control at 5:51pm, just over 40 minutes after the first crews arrived on scene.

Firefighters will remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.

At the height of the incident, there were 9 FRV appliances on scene, including five Pumpers and one Rescue Unit.

FRV was supported on scene by Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.
