Firefighters contain Ringwood recycling fire

More than 28 FRV firefighters responded to a fire at a metal recycling facility in Ringwood on Thursday night.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the blaze just after 11.10pm and crews arrived at the Heatherdale Road scene within six minutes.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a significant fire issuing from the property and immediately escalated the response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, FRV firefighters attacked the fire from the ground and deployed an aerial appliance to attack the fire from above.

Crews successfully contained the blaze, bringing the fire under control at 11.44pm, 27 minutes after arriving on scene.

Firefighters remained on scene for some time to fully extinguish the fire and make the scene safe.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is under investigation.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted FRV on scene.
