Approximately 12 firefighters responded to a truck crash in Sunshine West on Wednesday afternoon.

FRV crews were called to the Western Ring Road after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the incident just after 3:40pm.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find two trucks had collided, with one driver trapped in the cabin of one of the trucks.

FRV Heavy Rescue firefighters worked to cut the trapped driver while firefighters established hose lines in case a fire started in one of the trucks.

Firefighters were able to free the driver within ten minutes, and transferred him into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Victoria Police worked alongside firefighters at the scene, and will investigate the cause.
