Approximately 36 firefighters responded to a house fire in Sunshine West on Wednesday morning.

FRV crews were called to the Dinnell Street incident at 9:24am, after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a house engulfed in fire.

FRV crews arrived on scene to find the top level of a two story house alight.

Wearing breathing apparatus they attacked the blaze and worked to protect neighbouring houses.

Firefighters brought the fire under control about 40 minutes after they first arrived on scene.

FRV fire investigators will attend to determine the cause.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, and crews will remain on scene to ensure it is safe and extinguish any hot spots.

FRV is working alongside Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria at the scene.
