Approximately 24 firefighters responded to a house fire in Craigieburn overnight on Saturday.

FRV and CFA crews were called to the Hamilton Street incident just before 1:00am on Sunday morning after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene in four minutes to find flames coming from the front two bedrooms of the house.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews searched the building and began an internal attack on the fire.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire.

Crews contained the blaze to the two front rooms of the house, and brought the fire under control 11 minutes after they first arrived on scene.

Firefighters believed the cause to be a candle in one of the bedrooms.

An advice message was issued for residents in the nearby area.

FRV crews worked alongside Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria at the scene.
