Approximately 40 firefighters responded to a fire at an industrial site in Laverton North on Friday afternoon.

FRV and CFA crews were called to the incident at 4:45pm after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the Dohertys Road blaze.

Firefighters arrived on scene in six minutes to find a fire involving mixed recycling material.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters gained access to the site then worked to contain the fire, bringing it under control within 30 minutes.

FRV crews are working to determine the cause, and remained on scene to monitor any hotpots and ensure it was safe.

FRV and CFA crews worked alongside Victoria Police at the scene, and Worksafe and the EPA have also been notified.
