Firefighters quick to scene of Nunawading house fire

22 firefighters responded to a house fire in Nunawading this morning.

FRV crews were called to the Rooks Road incident at 8.37am after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the fire. 

Firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes to find smoke issuing from the house.  

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews searched the building and began an internal attack on the fire. 

Fortunately, the occupants were not home at the time of the incident. 

Crews contained the blaze to the two rear rooms of the house and the rear section of the roof space, and brought the fire under control in 15 minutes. 

Firefighters will remain on scene to completely extinguish the fire and to make the scene safe.

FRV Fire Investigators will investigate the cause of the fire.

At the height of the incident there were 10 FRV firefighting appliances on scene, including five pumpers and an aerial unit.

FRV crews worked alongside Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria at the scene.
