Firefighters quickly contain Balwyn fire

FRV firefighters have extinguished a fire which engulfed a disused medical centre in Balwyn last night.

Crews were called to the premises on Whitehorse Rd, Balwyn at 8.45pm, arriving on scene within 5 minutes.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to search for occupants. Luckily, no one was inside and firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly, before it could spread to neighbouring properties.

The fire was declared under control at 9.15pm.

At this stage the incident is being treated as suspicious and Victoria Police is investigating.

Ambulance Victoria also attended the incident.
