Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a house and garage fire in Thomastown on Saturday morning.

FRV firefighters were called to the Redfern Close incident just before 8:45am after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a garage was on fire.

Crews arrived on scene in six minutes to find the garage fully alight, and fire spreading to the rear of the house.

Fortunately all occupants had safely evacuated.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters knocked down the fire in the house and garage, and prevented the blaze from spreading to a neighbouring property.

Crews brought the fire under control 18 minutes after first arriving on scene.

Specialist FRV investigators will attend to determine the cause.

One person was transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

FRV worked alongside Victoria Police at the scene.
