Firefighters rescue man and dog from Bundoora fire

FRV firefighters have successfully rescued a man and a dog after a fire broke out at a Bundoora home.

Several callers reported for black smoke and flames issuing from the premise just before 4pm.

Crews arrived to the property on Maroondah Tce within minutes and found the two storey home involved in fire.

Firefighters donned in breathing apparatus entered the home and retrieved a male resident and safely placed him into the care Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

A small dog was also located inside the home that was a bit shaken up but overall in good spirits.  

More than 20 firefighters worked to bring the fire under control in less than 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage. FRV Fire Investigation specialists will work to determine what sparked the blaze.

At the height of the incident there were nine FRV firefighting appliances, including one rescue and one aerial unit, in addition to Command and support units.
