Approximately 24 firefighters, including High Angle Rescue Techniques specialists, responded to a rescue incident in Kensington on Tuesday afternoon.

FRV crews were called to the Arden Street incident after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a person had fallen into a silo around 1:45pm.

Firefighters arrived on scene in six minutes to find a man trapped underneath the silo.

He had been working underneath the silo when around four tonnes of sawdust and wood chips was accidentally tipped onto him, and was unable to move.

Crews placed a special breathing apparatus mask on the person and then worked to bring him to safety, before transferring him into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

FRV worked alongside Victoria Police and Worksafe at the scene.
