Firefighters rescue three people from burning Chastone house

FRV firefighters rescued two children and a woman from a burning house in Chastone on Wednesday night.

All three were in a critical condition, and were transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

FRV Firefighters arrived on scene at 9.40pm, within five minutes of receiving the call, to find flames issuing through the roof of the two-storey townhouse on Terrigal Street.

Wearing breathing apparatus, forced entry into the smoke-filled home, locating and rescuing two children and one adult, from the first floor of the property.

The fire involved the upper floor bedrooms and ensuite, with the fire penetrating the roof causing partial structural collapse. The remainder of the property has been smoke and water damaged.

Crews brought the fire under control at 10.15pm.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined by Victoria Police and FRV specialist Fire Investigators.
