Firefighters rescue two people from Richmond apartment fire

More than 30 FRV firefighters responded to an apartment fire in Richmond on Wednesday morning.

A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a fire in an apartment on Coppin Street just after 8.30am.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes, upgrading the response immediately and commencing an internal search of the building.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued two occupants, who were transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

FRV firefighters used 10 appliances to attack the fire, including aerial units.

Firefighters brought the fire under control just before 8.55am.

Several people evacuated the building.

Ambulance Victoria assessed several people at the scene and Victoria Police is also on site.
