More than 30 FRV firefighters responded to a factory fire in Cheltenham on Friday afternoon.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the Ambrose Avenue fire at 1.50pm.

Crews arrived within seven minutes, finding the factory well alight, with smoke issuing from the 60 x 30 metre double storey brick factory.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to discover various areas were alight, with numerous ignition points.

Firefighters used high-pressure hoselines to bring the fire under control just after 2pm.

Crews remained on scene to ventilate the smoke-logged building, before handing the scene to Victoria Police to investigate.

At this stage, firefighters believe the fire may have started under suspicious circumstances.

FRV firefighters were assisted by CFA.
