Firefighters respond to Greensborough powerline incident

Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters are responding to a weather-related incident in Greensborough with over 50 homes impacted by powerlines with some of the powerlines close to a neighbouring creek.

A Triple Zero (000) caller just after 6:40 am reported broken and low hanging powerlines on Bicton Street with crews arriving to the scene and upon investigation, escalating the response.

Firefighters from FRV and CFA worked at the scene to mitigate the risk and manage the compromised powerlines with a power company isolating the power.

The incident was declared under control at 6:54 am with residents instructed to stay indoors and crews remaining onsite for some time to ensure the scene is safe.
