Firefighters respond to Laverton house fire

30 firefighters responded to a house fire in Laverton this morning.

FRV crews were called to the Bladen Street incident at 10.33am after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported black smoke coming from the residential property.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find the rear of the house ablaze.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews conducted a search and safely evacuated one occupant, before transferring them into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes, at 11.09am.

At the height of the incident, there were 10 FRV appliances on scene, including five Pumpers, one Rescue Unit and one Aerial Unit.

FRV was supported on scene by Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police.
