Firefighters respond to Maidstone church fire

At 1.05am, Fire Recue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Richelieu Street, Maidstone after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a church fire.

Firefighters arrived to find fire in the front section and roof space of the single storey weatherboard building.

Crews worked quickly to knock down the fire and were able to stop it from causing major damage to the church.

The scene was deemed Under Control at 1:18am.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.

Ambulance Victoria was also on the scene.
