At 3.45am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Floribunda Road, Tarneit, after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find the single storey brick house fully involved in fire and threatening nearby homes.
The fire has severely damaged the house with the main roof and a wall collapsing. The local council Building Surveyor has been asked to attend.
Commander Ferguson has praised the efforts of thirty firefighters on scene, who proactively ensured that minimal damage occurred to neighbouring properties.
The fire took 50 minutes to bring under control.
The fire has been deemed suspicious and police on scene informed.
Firefighters will remain on scene to continue extinguishing hot spots.
