FRV crews were called to the Palmer Street incident just after 10:10pm after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the unit was well alight.

Firefighters arrived on scene in six minutes to find smoke and flames coming from the building.

Wearing breathing apparatus, they conducted a search of the home, to find no occupants inside.

Meanwhile another crew attacked the fire, and firefighters brought it under control 20 minutes after first arriving.

FRV crews determined the cause to be suspicious and handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.
