Firefighters on scene at Maribyrnong former ammunitions site

Firefighters have returned to the site of a former ammunitions factory in Maribyrnong, after wild winds ignited the area which is being monitored.

Crews were called to the Raleigh Road site about 12.45pm following reports of smoke in the area.

The site was being monitored following a significant grassfire on New Year’s Day.

Firefighters from FRV and CFA are currently on scene managing the incident.

There is no current risk to the community.

UPDATE 6pm: The scene is now under control and FRV have left the scene.
