More than 10 FRV firefighters secured an Alphington building from collapse in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported that a car had crashed into a building at Steane Street shortly after 3.15am.

Crews arrived to find the building was significantly damaged due to the crash and at risk of collapse.

Three FRV crews, including specialist urban search and rescue firefighters, worked quickly to prop up the building and secure it.

Firefighters then safely winched the car away from the building.

The incident was declared under control just after 4.25am and crews handed the scene to Victoria Police.
