FRV responded to an incident in Moonee Ponds on Tuesday afternoon after a Triple Zero (000) call was received from the occupant of a sixth floor apartment with a loose window shutter.

Firefighters arrived to find the occupant holding onto the metal shutter which was hanging by one bolt, and at threat of falling to the below traffic and footpath due to high winds.

Using a rope line to secure the shutter from falling, Specialist High Angle Rescue (HART) firefighters were called to safely remove the shutter.

HART specialists were able use anchor points on the roof to attach rope lines to, and once the shutter was secured to the rope line they lowered it to the ground safely.

Victoria Police and SES assisted with traffic and area control on scene.
