Approximately 29 firefighters responded to a house fire in Ashwood early on Sunday morning.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the Karrin Street house fire just before 2:20am.

FRV crews arrived on scene to find a unit fully alight and the blaze threatening a rear unit and neighbouring houses.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters set up water streams to protect neighbouring properties, and evacuated the occupants of the rear unit.

Using an aerial Teleboom appliance, crews knocked the fire down quickly and brought it under control 10 minutes after they first arrived on scene.

No injuries have been reported and crews remained on scene to ensure it was safe.

Firefighters believed the incident to be suspicious and handed it over to police for further investigation.
