FRV firefighters stopped a significant fire at a Pakenham chemist from spreading to adjoining businesses in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported seeing flames at the Main Street premise shortly before 3.45am.

Crews arrived on scene within six minutes.

Upon arrival, crews immediately escalated the response, requesting a ladder platform and aerial appliance.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews entered the premise and commenced an aggressive internal attack.

Firefighters also attacked the fire from above.

Firefighters successfully stopped the fire from spreading to nearby shops, bringing the fire under control within 25 minutes of arrival.

CFA firefighters supported FRV crews at the scene.

Firefighters remained on scene to fully extinguish the fire, then handed the scene to Victoria Police to investigate.
