At 1.08pm, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) supported by CFA responded to an incident on Hawkstowe Crescent at Greenvale after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a spreading grass and scrub fire around ten acres in size.
The response was escalated and firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes with the incident deemed Under Control at 1.48pm.
Due to the swift action of crews arriving on scene, the fire was stopped before it reached the fence line of a nearby new residential estate.
A community advisory was issued for smoke in the area.
The fire has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
Ambulance Victoria was on the scene.
