30 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Sydenham on Saturday evening.

FRV crews were called to the Harness Court incident at 5:54pm after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000).

While responding crews saw black smoke coming from the scene and upgraded the response, with further crews to respond.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a garage that was well alight.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the building and began to contain the fire, while also using high pressure hoses to protect neighbouring properties from heat and smoke.

The fire was brought under control at 6:36pm, just over 40 minutes after the first crews arrived on scene.

Firefighters will remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.

At the height of the incident, there were 9 FRV appliances on scene, including five Pumpers and one Rescue Unit.

FRV was supported on scene by Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.
