Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire at 12.34am on Hazlewood Road, Morwell after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported smoke issuing from a building.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a fire, approximately 20m by 20m, had penetrated the roof of the building and the response was escalated.

Extra Pumpers from both FRV and CFA responded, and a Ladder Platform was requested to help attack the blaze from above.

The response, in its early stages, was hampered by a lack of water supply in the area.

Extra CFA tankers responded to provide more water and breathing apparatus crews.

The blaze caused extensive damage and resulted in a building collapse of the 80m by 20m facility.

In total, 20 appliances and 65 firefighters responded to the incident.

The scene was deemed Under Control at 3.20am.

Crews are expected to remain at the scene for several hours to monitor the blaze for hotspots.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police are also on scene.

The Gas and Power companies also attended to assist FRV.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

The origin of the cause will be investigated and determined at a later time.
