Firefighters work to extinguish the fire in Watsonia

At 11.09PM, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a house fire in Watsonia, following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000).

Crews arrived on scene within 6 minutes to find a single storey, weatherboard dwelling, well involved in fire.

Wearing beathing apparatus (BA), firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, bringing the incident under control within 60 minutes, however the home was significantly damaged by fire.

One 51yr old male was transported to hospital with symptoms of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The scene will be attended in daylight hours by VicPol and FRV specialist investigators.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene to support firefighting activities.

Firefighters will remain on scene for some time, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

An advice message has been issued for smoke in the area.
