More than 30 FRV firefighters responded to a fire in Footscray just after 8:45pm on Tuesday night.
Initial FRV crews arrived on scene at the incident in three minutes to find a fire on the second floor of factory, firefighters immediately escalated the response.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked to gain entry to the building and began to attack the fire which had spread across multiple floors of the building.
The incident was brought under control within 55 minutes.
Firefighters will remain at the site for some time to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and the scene is safe.
Victoria Police attended the incident to assist with traffic control.
Ambulance Victoria also attended.
