FRV battles Mount Waverley house fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to multiple reports of a building fire in Mount Waverley late this afternoon.

Firefighters arrived at Illuka Crescent within seven minutes to find a double-storey brick townhouse fully ablaze, so the response was escalated.

FRV crews wore breathing apparatus and entered the building to search the premises, confirming no occupants were inside the home.

The incident was declared under control at 4.24pm, approximately 30 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.

One double-storey unit in a dual occupancy structure was fully involved in fire and has sustained significant damage.

Thankfully, firefighters were able to prevent the blaze spreading to the adjoining home.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will be investigated.
