At 3.09am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Vida Street at Aberfeldie after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a two-storey weatherboard house, 15m x 30m, fully involved with fire.

The response was escalated to a third alarm with approximately 60 firefighters, including two aerial appliances.

The house had significant structural collapse and FRV’s focus was to protect neighbouring houses.

One neighbouring house sustained significant damage, however, firefighters contained the spread of fire quickly, limiting damage.

A further house sustained superficial damage only and the occupants will be able to return to it.

The incident was deemed Under Control at 4.49am.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were on the scene.

The cause will be investigated.

FRV will be on scene for most of the morning making the scene safe.
