FRV crews battle Sunshine building fire

At 1.22am, Fire Rescue Victoria was called to Devonshire Road, Sunshine after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a building fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a single-storey brick storage building fully involved in fire.

Flames were issuing through the roof, and firefighters immediately commenced an external attack on the fire requesting additional firefighting appliances.

A Community Advice was issued advising of the fire and smoke in the area.

Sixteen FRV firefighting appliances attended enabling the large fire to be declared ‘under control’ in approx. 40 minutes.

The roof however ultimately collapsed into the 20x40 metre building and the local council building surveyor will be attending to inspect the structure.

FRV firefighters were successful in protecting a threatened adjoining premises from fire extension.

Specialist FRV Fire Investigators will be attending in the morning to determine the cause of the fire.

FRV firefighters will be in attendance throughout the morning to continue fire duties, including extinguishment of hot spots.
