FRV crews arrived to the scene within approximately six minutes to find the home engulfed in the fire.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, firefighters commenced an external attack on the blaze.

Thanks to the hard work of attending crews, the fire was declared under control just before 4:30pm and was contained to the single storey brick dwelling.

One occupant managed to evacuate before firefighters arrived on scene and was transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

At the height of the incident there were seven firefighting appliances on scene, including a rescue appliance and aerial appliance, along with three additional units.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for some time until the fire has been completely extinguished.

At this stage the exact cause of the fire is unknown, however this will be investigated by FRV’s specialist Fire Investigation and Analysis Unit.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria crews assisted at the scene.
